첸나이 시티 FC()는 인도의 축구 클럽으로 타밀나두주 코임바토레를 연고로 합니다.[1][2][3]이 클럽은 당시 인도 축구 리그 시스템의 최상위 리그였던 [4][5][6]I-리그에 주로 참가했습니다.그들은 첸나이 축구 리그에도 등장했습니다.[7][8]1946년 네타지 스포츠 클럽으로 설립된 첸나이 시는 2016년 전국 무대에 진출하기 전까지 주 리그와 녹아웃 대회에 출전하며 역사의 대부분을 보냈습니다.[9]

형성 초기(1946~2016)

첸나이 시티 FC는 1946년 인도의 영국 통치기에 '네타지' 수바스 찬드라 보스의 이름을 딴 '네타지 스포츠 클럽'으로 창단되었습니다.[16][17]S. V. 카나가사바이, E. Vadivelu, T. R. 고빈다라잔, P. V. 첼라파, K.에캄바람.[18]타밀나두 축구협회(TNFA) 소속 네타지 스포츠 클럽은 [19]비탈 트로피, TFA 실드, 첸나이 지구 축구 리그 등 여러 주 대회에 출전했습니다.[20][21]네타지는 TNFA의 지원을 받아 정규리그 시즌 종료 후 '유니버설컵'이라는 이름의 챔피언스트로피를 동시에 마련했습니다.[22]창단 당시부터 클럽은 주로 21-22세의 젊은 선수들로 구성되어 있었고, 두란드컵과 페더레이션컵에 출전하는 등 여러 차례 국가적인 영향력에 근접했습니다.[17]

1990년대부터 네타지 스포츠 클럽은 첸나이 축구 협회(CFA)가 주관하는 마드라스 축구 리그에 참가했습니다.[23][24]대회인 타밀나두 리그에서는 2004년, 2005-06년, 2007년에 세 차례 준우승을 차지했습니다.[25][26][27]2014년 6월 11일에 첸나이 시티 FC로 명칭을 변경했습니다.[28]

I리그 연도(2016~2021)

2016년[29] 12월 11일, 타밀 나두 출신으로는 내셔널 풋볼 리그의 인도 은행 레크리에이션 클럽 팀에 이어 두 번째로 최상위 리그에 참가하는 클럽이 되었습니다.[30][31][32]첸나이 시티 FC는 I리그에서 8위를 차지하며 페더레이션 컵 진출에 성공했고 리그에서 한 경기를 남겨놓고 해냈습니다.

첸나이 시는 첫 시즌 국내 리그 최고 수준의 성적을 거뒀습니다.[33]모훈 바간 AC를 아주 오랫동안 보류하고 아이자울 FC동벵골 FC를 상대로 승리까지 거두면서 그들의 잠재력이 부각되었습니다.[34]
