영국령 기아나 출신인 앤드루 왓슨은 세계 최초의 흑인 협회 축구선수(아버지는 백인, 어머니 블랙)로 국제 무대에서 활약한 것으로 널리 평가받고 있다.[11][12][13] 그는 1881년에서 1882년 사이에 스코틀랜드에서 세 차례나 출전 제한을 받았다. 왓슨은 또한 당시 스코틀랜드의 대표 클럽이었던 퀸즈 파크에서 뛰었고, 후에 그들의 비서가 되었다. 그는 그 팀을 몇 번의 스코틀랜드 컵 우승으로 이끌었고, 따라서 주요 대회에서 우승한 최초의 블랙 헤리티지 선수가 되었다.[13]
