에어로가드

Aerogard

에어로가드는 호주의 아웃도어 방충제 브랜드(피부에 직접 도포)이다.[1] 영국 회사 레킷이 소유하고 있는 에어로졸 스프레이, 병 크림, 롤온 등으로 나온다.

활성 성분

에어로가드의 활성 성분은 N, N-diethyl-meta-toluamide(DEET)이다.[2] 최근 낮은 악취 공식은 Picaridin을 사용한다(Icaridin 참조).

역사

호주 연방과학산업연구기구(CSIRO)의 더그 워터하우스가 개발한 방충제가 1963년 엘리자베스 2세의 호주 방문을 더욱 즐겁게 했다. 캔버라 정부 청사에서 열린 가든파티에서 여왕이 퇴치제를 뿌릴 예정이었지만, 담당 보좌관은 용기를 잃었다. 다음날 정부 하원 직원들은 여왕이 뿌려졌는지 확실히 했다. 여왕을 따르는 기자들은 공식 파티에 파리가 없다는 것과 CSIRO의 새로운 플라이 리플릿 확산에 대한 소식을 들었다.

며칠 후 모타인은 더그 워터하우스에 전화를 걸어 당시 CSIRO의 방침대로 그가 준 공식을 찾았다.[3]
